90-day used-part limited warranty, manufacturer warranty on new

On this page 5 sections

Last updated: October 22, 2026

Every part we sell is covered, but not by the same warranty. A used part carries our own 90-day parts-only limited warranty from the date it is delivered to you. That is the standard across the professional salvage trade, and a term we can actually honor rather than a number chosen to look good. A new part carries whatever written warranty its manufacturer offers, which we pass through and handle on your behalf. The first section below sets out both, and the rest of this page describes our own used-part cover in detail.

This Warranty Policy applies to every part sold on americanoffroadsupply.com or by phone. It works alongside our Refund and Returns Policy, which covers the first 30 days after delivery for any reason provided the part is uninstalled and unmodified, and covers a defective part whether installed or not, and our Terms of Service.

Which warranty applies to your part

Listings state whether a part is new or used in the title, the Condition attribute or the description. If a listing does not say, or is unclear, ask us before you order and we will confirm in writing.

Used-part 90-day limited warranty

This is a limited warranty within the meaning of the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Who is covered

The original purchaser named on the order. Coverage applies when the part is used on a vehicle that the listing states it fits. The warranty is not transferable to a later owner of the part or the vehicle.

How long it lasts

90 calendar days from the date the carrier delivers the part to you, or from the day you pick it up. The warranty period is not extended by a claim.

What is covered

We warrant that for 90 days from delivery the part will be free from defects that prevent it from performing the function it was sold to perform when correctly installed on the vehicle described in the listing and used normally. Examples of covered failures:

  • A tail light or headlight assembly whose internal circuit or LED array fails.
  • An engine computer, body control module or other electronic module that, once correctly programmed and installed, does not operate. This includes a module the listing describes as untested.
  • A wiring harness with a broken internal conductor or a connector that does not carry a signal.
  • A tailgate latch, handle or hinge that fails to operate.
  • A structural crack in a bed, bumper or bracket that was not visible or disclosed at the time of sale.
  • A mirror motor, heater or signal that does not function.

Painting a body part in preparation for installation, programming a module to your vehicle, dry-fitting and installing the part do not affect this warranty. Painting, programming and installation (but not a careful dry fit) do end the 30-day return right under the Refund and Returns Policy, which is why we ask you to confirm fit before you paint or program.

What is not covered

Used parts have been in service on another vehicle, and the listing price reflects that. The following are not defects and are not covered:

  • Cosmetic condition. Scratches, scuffs, chips, small dents, paint fade, surface rust, bed-liner residue, sun checking and similar wear that is visible in the listing photographs, described in the listing, or normal for a part of that age. Paint color differences between the part and your vehicle.
  • Normal wear items such as bulbs, gaskets, seals, weatherstrips, brake rotors and pads, bushings, cables, filters and fluids.
  • Installation damage and misuse, including incorrect installation, incorrect programming or flashing of a module, use of the wrong fasteners or torque, forcing or modifying a part to fit a vehicle it was not sold for, overloading, collision, off-road impact, racing or competition use, neglect, fire, flood and acts of nature.
  • Modification. A part that has been cut, welded, drilled or altered beyond what its normal installation requires, or painted over a defect.
  • Corrosion or deterioration that begins after delivery, including rust that develops on bare metal that was not protected after installation.
  • Parts used in a commercial, rental or fleet application remain covered, but failures caused by overloading beyond the vehicle’s rated capacity are not.
  • Labor and other costs. Installation and removal labor, diagnostic fees, programming fees, towing, rental vehicles, loss of use, downtime, lost income, fluids, paint, consumables, and any other incidental or consequential loss.
  • Parts not returned to us. The remedy under this warranty is conditional on the part being returned for inspection.

What we will do

If a covered defect appears within the warranty period, we refund the full price you paid for the part, including any sales tax, to the original payment method. We arrange and pay for the return shipping of the failed part. We inspect the part and issue your refund within 5 business days of the day it arrives back with us.

Our remedy under this warranty is a refund, the same way we settle every return. We do not ship replacement parts under warranty, because most used parts are one of a kind. Once your refund is issued you are free to order another part from us or from anyone else. We do not pay for labor, diagnosis or any cost other than the price of the part.

How to make a claim

  1. Contact us within the 90-day period by email to sales@americanoffroadsupply.com or by phone at (210) 786-8152. Give your order number, a description of the failure, and photographs or a short video showing the problem. For electrical parts, please include the installer’s invoice or a description of how the part was installed and programmed. Your claim is on time if we receive it within the 90 days, even if the part ships back later.
  2. We respond within 1 business day. We may ask a few questions or request more photographs to understand the failure. In most cases we approve the claim at this stage and issue a Warranty Return Authorization (RA) number with a prepaid parcel label or a scheduled freight pickup at our expense.
  3. Ship the part back within 10 calendar days of receiving the RA, packed well enough to survive the trip. Write the RA number on the package.
  4. Inspection and refund. We inspect the part and, if the defect is confirmed, issue your refund within 5 business days of the day it arrives back with us, with an email confirmation. If our inspection finds that the failure was caused by something this warranty excludes, we tell you what we found with photographs, and we return the part to you at our expense.

Your rights under state law

Any implied warranties on a used part, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the 90-day period of this written warranty. American Off-Road Supply is not liable for incidental or consequential damages arising from a breach of this warranty or any implied warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

New parts: the manufacturer’s warranty

A new part, whether an aftermarket bumper, flatbed, service body, light, hitch or a new OEM component, carries whatever written warranty its manufacturer offers. Most carry one; where a manufacturer offers no written warranty, the listing says so. The manufacturer sets the terms: how long the warranty lasts, what it covers, what it excludes, and whether the remedy is repair, replacement or refund. We pass that warranty through to you unchanged. Apart from the 30-day refund right in our Refund and Returns Policy and the factory-second cover described below, American Off-Road Supply gives no warranty of its own on a new part and does not extend, shorten or alter the manufacturer’s terms.

Finding the terms before you buy

The manufacturer’s warranty is normally printed in the documentation packed with the part or published on the manufacturer’s website. Every listing carries a short warranty line with a link to this page, and if you want to read the manufacturer’s terms before you order, email us the listing and we will send you a copy or a link. Typical manufacturer terms in our categories:

  • Steel bumpers, grille guards and headache racks: commonly a limited warranty on structure of 1 year to lifetime, with a shorter limited warranty, often 1 year or less, on powder coat or paint finish.
  • Flatbeds, service bodies and dump bodies: commonly a limited structural warranty of 1 to 3 years, excluding finish, wear and damage from overloading.
  • LED lighting: commonly 1 to 5 years against failure of the LEDs and housing.
  • Winches, auxiliary fuel tanks and similar accessories: commonly 90 days to 1 year.
  • New OEM parts: the vehicle manufacturer’s replacement-parts warranty, commonly 12 months or 12,000 miles.

These are general descriptions to help you plan, not promises. The written terms supplied by the manufacturer for your specific part are the ones that apply.

How we handle a manufacturer’s warranty claim for you

  1. Contact us first, not the manufacturer, at sales@americanoffroadsupply.com or (210) 786-8152, with your order number, a description of the problem and photographs.
  2. We file the claim with the manufacturer within 2 business days, provide proof of purchase, and keep you informed of the manufacturer’s response.
  3. The manufacturer decides the remedy under its warranty terms. This may be a repair, a replacement part shipped by the manufacturer, or a refund. This is the one situation in which you may receive a replacement part rather than a refund, because the remedy comes from the manufacturer under their warranty and not from us as an exchange. The manufacturer may contact you directly or ship a replacement straight to you; we stay involved until the claim is resolved.
  4. Return shipping of a part under a manufacturer’s warranty claim is governed by the manufacturer’s terms. Where the manufacturer requires the part back and does not pay the freight, we tell you before anything is shipped so there are no surprises.

In the first 30 days after delivery you may prefer to use our Refund and Returns Policy instead, under which a defective new part is returned at our expense for a full refund. That is usually faster than a manufacturer’s claim.

Factory seconds and scratch-and-dent new parts

Some new aftermarket parts are sold as factory seconds or scratch-and-dent units. The listing says so and describes the cosmetic defect. Manufacturers normally exclude these units from their warranty, so a factory second is covered instead by our own 90-day limited warranty on the terms set out above for used parts: the disclosed cosmetic defect is not covered, a defect that stops the part doing its job is, and the remedy is a refund.

Implied warranties on new parts

To the extent permitted by law, any implied warranties from American Off-Road Supply on a new part are limited in duration to one year from delivery, and American Off-Road Supply is not liable for incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

General conditions that apply to both warranties

  • The warranty period starts on the carrier’s recorded delivery date, or the day you pick up the part from our yard or a carrier terminal, the same date that starts the 30-day return window. When parts from one order arrive on different days, each part’s period runs from its own delivery date.
  • Proof of purchase is your order number. You do not need to register a part with us.
  • Fitment stated on a listing is a statement about which vehicles the part was designed for. Confirming that the part is correct for your specific vehicle before installation is your responsibility, with our help; see the Buyers Guide. A part installed on a vehicle other than the one described in the listing is not covered.
  • We recommend professional installation for electrical, drivetrain and structural parts. Professional installation is not a condition of the used-part warranty, but we may ask for an installer’s invoice or a description of the installation when assessing an electrical or drivetrain claim.
  • No employee, installer or other person is authorized to change these terms verbally. Any change must be in writing from American Off-Road Supply.
  • These warranties are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and by applicable federal law.
