This Sales Tax Policy explains how American Off-Road Supply handles sales tax, what you will see at checkout, and what tax-exempt buyers such as resellers, body shops and fleets need to know. It applies to every order placed on americanoffroadsupply.com or by phone.
At a glance
| Term | What we do |
|---|---|
| Sales tax at checkout | We do not currently add sales tax at checkout, for any state. The price shown on the listing is the total you pay. |
| Shipping | Free to all 50 states, so there is no shipping charge and nothing to tax on shipping. |
| Use tax | Your state may require you to report and pay use tax on your purchase. See the use tax notice below. |
| Tax-exempt and resale buyers | No certificate is needed to order, because no tax is charged. If you want a resale or exemption certificate on file for your own records, you can send us one. |
| Refunds | Because no tax is charged, refunds are of the part price only, as set out in our Refund and Returns Policy. |
| If this changes | If we begin collecting sales tax in any state, it will appear as a separate line at checkout before you pay, and this page will be updated first. |
What you pay at checkout
The checkout total is the sum of the listing prices of the parts in your order. There is no shipping line, no tax line, and no fee line. We do not add sales tax to any order at this time, whether it ships to Texas or to another state, and whether you pick it up at our San Antonio yard or have it delivered.
Use tax notice
Because we do not collect sales tax on your order, your purchase may be subject to use tax in your state. Most states, including Texas, require purchasers to report and pay use tax on taxable items bought from a seller that did not collect sales tax. Details and forms are available from your state’s department of revenue (in Texas, the Comptroller of Public Accounts). Where a state requires us to send purchase summaries to buyers or to the state, we do so.
Tax-exempt and resale purchases
You do not need to provide a resale or exemption certificate to order, because no sales tax is charged. Business customers who want a certificate on file with us for their own records can email it to sales@americanoffroadsupply.com with the business name and the email address used to order. For Texas buyers this is the Texas Sales and Use Tax Resale Certificate (Form 01-339, front) or Exemption Certificate (Form 01-339, back). We keep certificates as the law requires. By providing a certificate you accept responsibility for its accuracy.
Receipts and invoices
Every receipt shows the part price and the total paid. Business customers who need an invoice with our address for their records can request one by email at any time.
Changes to tax rates and laws
Tax collection obligations change. If we begin collecting sales tax in any state, the tax will be calculated on the shipping address, shown as a separate line at checkout before you confirm payment, and refunded with the part price on any refund. This page is a summary of our practice and is not tax advice; consult your tax adviser or state revenue department for guidance on your own situation.
