American Off-Road Supply wants every customer to be able to find, understand and buy the truck part they need, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This statement describes the accessibility standard we work to on americanoffroadsupply.com, what we have done, where we know we fall short, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.
Our commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more usable for people with visual, hearing, motor and cognitive disabilities, and following them also makes the site easier for everyone. We treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a one-time project, and we review the site whenever we add features or change its design.
Measures we take
These are the standards we build and test to. We do not claim that every page meets every one of them at every moment, because the site changes as parts are added; the “Known limitations” section below is honest about the gaps, and the feedback section tells you how to reach us when something does not work.
- Keyboard access. We design pages, menus, product listings, the Fitment Checker and the checkout to be operable with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator showing where you are.
- Screen readers. We use headings, landmarks, lists and tables with header rows so that screen readers can navigate pages, and we label form fields in the Fitment Checker, cart and checkout, with errors described in text.
- Images. We write alternative text for product photographs that identifies the part, its side or position and the vehicle it fits, and we hide decorative images from assistive technology.
- Text and color. We aim for text that can be resized to 200 percent without loss of content, body text contrast of at least 4.5 to 1, and information that is never conveyed by color alone. Fitment results, for example, are shown in words (“Fits”, “Does not fit”) as well as color.
- Motion. We avoid auto-playing video and flashing content, and respect your device’s reduced-motion setting.
- Plain language. Our policies and the Buyers Guide are written in plain English, with the key terms set out in short tables before the detail.
- Mobile. The site adapts to phone and tablet screens in portrait and landscape orientation, with controls sized to tap accurately.
Known limitations
We are honest about where we are not yet where we want to be. We are working on each of the following and welcome reports of anything else.
- Product photographs. Some listings, particularly older used-part listings, have photographs with only brief alternative text. If you need a fuller description of any part, including dimensions, condition and markings, call or email us and we will describe it or send additional photographs.
- Third-party services. Carrier tracking pages, the card payment form provided by our payment processor, and manufacturer websites are run by other companies and may not meet the same standard. If you have difficulty with the payment form, we can take your order by phone and email you a secure payment link, or you can pay by wire transfer or payment app.
- PDF documents. Some manufacturer warranty and installation documents are supplied to us as PDFs that are not fully tagged. We will provide the information in an accessible format on request.
Shopping with us another way
If any part of the site is difficult for you to use, you can do everything by phone or email, at no extra cost and on the same prices and policies:
- Phone: (210) 786-8152, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time; Saturday 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM; closed Sunday. We can describe parts, check fitment against your VIN, place your order and arrange payment by any of our accepted methods. For card payments we email you a secure payment link so that you enter the card yourself; we do not take card numbers over the phone.
- Email: sales@americanoffroadsupply.com. We reply within 1 business day.
- Relay services. We accept calls through telecommunications relay services (dial 711 in the United States).
Compatibility
We design the site to work with current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, and with common assistive technologies including VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS and TalkBack, as well as browser zoom and operating-system magnification and high-contrast modes. We cannot test every combination, and older browsers may not display every feature correctly.
Technical approach
Accessibility of this site relies on HTML5, WAI-ARIA, CSS and JavaScript working with your browser and any assistive technology you use. The site is built on WordPress and WooCommerce, and we select and configure themes and plugins with accessibility in mind. We test with keyboard-only navigation, screen readers and automated checking tools, and we act on customer feedback.
Feedback and complaints
If you encounter a barrier on our site, please tell us. Include the page address, what you were trying to do, the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using, and what happened. We reply within 1 business day, the same as every other email we receive, offer an alternative way to complete what you were doing in the meantime, and tell you how we plan to fix the problem.
